Mother Mary Repair So Far

Hello, Darlings

Here is a quick update on the repair of my Mother Mary statue.  As you know her head and hand were broken some time ago, and I opted to mend her instead of tossing her out. After all, she is a huge part of my faith, and it would seem profane to me to just to toss her away.  Because of the type of paints I am using, I give each coat plenty of time to dry, but below is what is done so far.

Because this is a new century, and I like everything to be a little brighter, I chose more brilliant colors over the more subdued ones she came with as seen in the first photo.

Until next time,

LONDON BROIL EVELYN'S STYLE UPDATE

Hello, Darlings

It has been a long hot-hot summer here in Florida, and it is not over yet. After listening to a couple of our local weathermen this morning, we learned that there are some tornadoes and hurricane Idalia headed our way for Tuesday and Wednesday.  Therefore, shore up those houses, store away the patio furniture, and if you are a container gardener like me, group those container plants together in a circle as much as possible with the smaller ones in the center of the group.

Enough of the weather, and on to the recipe!

You all know how I cannot let a recipe be if I can update it or converse it in some way to make it easier or tastier. Well today’s recipe is one that I posted before, the simple London Broil recipe that I found on the web many years ago has gone through a couple updates since I found it. As you know with the original recipe the sauce seeps out over the foil into the casserole dish, then there is not much to cover the other ingredients and it leaves a sticky mess beneath the foil.

Well I cannot stop the sauce from seeping over the foil but I have solved the problem of the lack of sauce. Below is my roaster oven update for the best London broil recipe ever.

 =====

 LONDON BROIL EVELYN'S STYLE UPDATE

Equipment: Roaster Oven, 4 qt casserole dish, 1 qt glass measuring cup and heavy-duty aluminum foil

Ingredients

1 London Broil, 2 - 3 pounds, cut into vertical sections

2 can of cream mushroom soup or beefy mushroom soup for more sauce

1 package onion soup mix

Four jumbo potatoes cut up into chunks or 1-bag baby red or golden butter potatoes

One eight oz can of sliced mushrooms, or 8 ounces of fresh sliced mushrooms

1 beef bouillon cube

1-cup boiling water

Optional: streamed broccoli

Directions

1.      Preheat roaster oven to 400 degrees

2.      In glass measuring cup add water and bouillon cube, microwave for 3 minutes or until bouillon melts, if water has boiled down below the one cup mark, top off with tap water

3.      Mix in mushroom soup and onion soup mix. Set aside

4.      Criss-crossed the aluminum foil in the casserole dish.

5.      Place London Broil sections into add potatoes and top with the sliced mushrooms.

6.      Pour onion soup mixture over meat, mushrooms and potatoes. Seal foil tightly. Using a fork make no than more than nine small vent holes in foil for steam to escape

7.      Place sealed casserole dish in roaster oven, cover and bake for 2-3 hours. Begin testing for meat tenderness at the 2 hour cooking time. We like our meat easy to cut with a fork.

8.      Stream broccoli for 10 to 15 minutes during last 30 minutes that London broil is cooking

9.      Serve meal with the hot mushroom sauce spooned over streamed broccoli on the side of plate

Evelyn’s Patio Furniture Makeover - My Mary Garden

Hello, Darlings

The last time I posted I was restoring my iron patio rocking chairs. Well, I have finished and place both of them back in my Mary Garden under protective covers to help prevent rain damage.  I also stated that I had thrown out the old iron bench and the two reclining chairs because of extensive damage done by vandals and rust. Therefore, I just did not see it as cost effective to repair them as it would be to simply replace them, which I have done.

Old damaged recliners. To see damaged the bench watch the video in the previous post.

New bench and reclining chairs unboxed.

Although there are protective covers for these new patio furniture pieces, I am unsure as to putting them out right now.  This is because we are in Florida’s hurricane season, and I rather wait for the weather to be more stable.

I love my Mary Garden and hate it that some people came into it and killed some of the plants, as well as damaged the old patio furniture in it.  I am not sure if these actions were anti-Catholic or just plain meanness on part of the vandals. However, I do know those who are ultimately responsible? And, so do the police department here.

Nevertheless, once I feel comfortable about the weather conditions, I will get my Mary Garden back to its glorious state of beauty, as well as the paved portion of the garden on the other side of the garage.

In addition, some time ago I knocked over my indoor Mary and Child statue. She lost a hand and had a hole in her head.  Pretty much like me (not literally). Some say it’s more of a psychic thing. No, I am not crazy and most of all there is no adverse affects on my intelligence and mental processes. My condition has been proven, more than once; although, I try to live a peaceful uninterrupted life, there are some people exploiting me because of it for their own gain. However, whatever is happening with my head, unlike me, Mary’s head can be mended, which is what I am doing now.

Well, this is where my DIY restoring projects stand right now, but once the weather is better, I will post the finish works.

Until, next time,
