Hello
Darlings,
Got
cats? Got furniture you want to keep your cats off
of? Try this little
DIY project.
Sure,
you can buy tons of the ready made cat beds on the market. However in making my
cat beds I took in consideration that like people, cats stretch out when they
sleep deeply. Therefore, I decided to make their beds myself. From the photos
below you can see that I use easy to find materials.
First,
because they were out large moving boxes, I got two old display boxes from my
local Walmart store. I do thank the manager for his kindest in
letting me have them. These two boxes are just the right shape and length
for my cats to stretch out in . Second, I purchased two inexpensive king size pillows from Amazon;
and lastly, I purchased material that was on sale from Joann to cover and line
the boxes. The cats and kittens on the material are so cute.
The
only places where the material is affixed is at the front and back of the boxes
with regular staples. I made sure the closure portion of the staples were
facing out so the sharp ends will not touch the cats as they slept.
First
impressions. Like most shoppers of fine things my cats checked out the beds. Autumn sat looking into one, then smugly
turned and went back to sleep on the extra pillow next to my husband, and which
is why I only made two beds. She will never let go of Stan. Sam claimed his cat bed by peeing on the
pillow, which prompted me to wash everything before putting the beds
completely together, and Jetta, the shy lady that she is, stepped
in and curled up for a long lazy afternoon nap.
As
for keeping the cats off the furniture, below is a recipe that does work if you
spray it around the furniture regularly and also it smells nice. If you have leather
or leather-like furniture using End Dust will keep them off for a few days also.
