Denims, Denims, Denims, 'Buy One, Get One Free'

Hello Darlings!
I know it's been a while since my last post, but I have a good excuse. I have been on a self imposed "do it for me" fitness gig. I have started working out at the " Y" for 2 hours a day. I am doing water aerobics, low impact aerobics with a chair and weights, walking a mile and half to two miles three days a week, and beginning this Monday, I will be adding Tai Chi.

I began by walking 15 minutes every other day back in March,  and then increased my distance and endurance every other week. So far, I have lost 20 pounds. I am struggling to break into the 180s, but losing weight slowly is working for me. I am back into my old jeans and delighted about it.

This brings me to the other reason for this post.  Roamon's has a great 'buy one, get one free' sale on denims apparel today. So check them out while the items last.

Until next time,
Chow Darlings.

Low-Cal, No Cholesterol Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins

Since I began shredding the pounds, I have become keenly aware of not only my calorie intake but also my cholesterol intake.

When I created my Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins', back in April, I was not thinking of the sugar nor the cholesterol content in them. Sure, you can say, "Well it's only one egg", and "So, what is a couple of tablespoons of sugar". However, if you are eating these muffins as a part of your reduction breakfast on a regular basis , the cholesterol content of the eggs and the sugar will gradually become higher over time.

So not to bore you with a lot of dietary talk, below is my tasty new Low-Cal, No Cholesterol Kellogg's Honey Raisin Bran Muffins recipe. I guarantee that you will find that it is just as delicious as my first recipe.

----

Low-Cal, No Cholesterol Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut meal
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons artificial sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Kellogg's Raisin Bran® cereal
  • 1 1/4 cups lactose-free milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

1.      Stir together flour, hazelnut meal, baking powder, salt and sugar. Set aside.
2.       In a large mixing bowl, combine Kellogg's Raisin Bran cereal, raisins, milk and honey. Let stand 3 minutes or until cereal softens.
3.      Add egg whites and oil. Beat well. For this you can beat the mixture with your electric beater and a single whisk attachment on low for two minutes. Avoid mashing the raisins.
4.      Add flour mixture, stirring by hand only until combined.
5.      Add an even portion of the batter into  two standard muffin pans coated with cooking spray.
6.       Bake at 400° F for 20 - 25 minutes. Serve warm.

As a bonus,  below is my low-cal breakfast menu for these muffins.
  • One Low-Cal, No Cholesterol Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffin
  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese.
  • Black coffee or artificially sweeten tea

The calorie count for each muffins is about 237. The calorie count for the meal is 364.

Amazon Has Luxury Hotel & Spa Bath Towel Sets For Sale. What A Steal!

Hello Darlings,

As with most of the items I purchase online I am sometimes a little nervous about the quality of the products. This is when I will read the customers reviews. In this case, all of the reviews were positive and each reviews had 5 stars.

After receiving the towels sets, I was pleased to see that there was no need for me to worry about  them. They come just as described on their page, and although, I do not write  reviews directly on Amazon, here is my honest opinion.

These Luxury Hotel & Spa Bath Towel Sets are a great value and are easily worth more than I paid for them ($24.99 per set with Prime delivery). Although, I purchased two set, I can easily see myself buying more in the future. They are large in length, heavily weaved, and soft as a teddy bear's fur.
Were I to put this review on Amazon I would rate these sets with 5 stars, but here I give them a 10 for super excellence.

Chow Darlings.

UPDATE: Sorry Darlings, the seller is no longer offering the above $24.99 per set with Prime delivery. They have add an $8.99 shipping cost. However, on the seller's other page Soft Touch Linen,
you can buy these same twoels sets for  $35.99 with Prime shipping.

I guess my purchase was an early bird catching the worm deal.

Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins', Putting A New Twist On An Old Recipe

Hello Darlings,

When I lived in Kentucky I had a friend who would always bring me a bag or two of unshelled Hazelnuts. If you have ever had the pleasure to eat whole hazelnuts, you know they are a very wonderful tasting and highly nutritional nut. You may also know that shelling hazelnuts are difficult and there were many times when I was tempted to pound them open with a sledgehammer. It was to my credit that I didn't, and that  I bravely labored on with a regular hammer outside on the concrete walkway with the nuts in plastic bags.

Well, since living here in Florida I have not been able to find any Hazelnuts, and my friend passed away long ago. Therefore, imagine my surprise to find that My Spice Sage had hazelnut meal, which is hazelnuts being grounded into a flour like ingredient.

I had to have a bag of the meal, and after buying a 4-ounce bag of the stuff, I decided to bake some muffins. However, not just any muffin recipe would do for mixing my hazelnut meal into. So I took the original Kellogg's Honey Raisin Bran Muffins recipe that I found on the Kellogg's website and revamped it a bit to add my hazelnuts.

Here is the recipe that I have named 'Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins', and the recipe is as follows:

----
Kellogg's Honey Hazelnut Raisin Bran Muffins
Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut meal
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Kellogg's Raisin Bran® cereal
  • 1 1/4 cups lactose-free milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions
1.      Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Set aside.
2.       In a large mixing bowl, combine Kellogg's Raisin Bran cereal, milk and honey. Let stand 3 minutes or until cereal softens.
3.      Add egg and oil.
6.       Bake at 400° F for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

Please note: the original recipe calls for 1 3/4 cups of flour. However, for my recipe I substituted the 4-ounce bag of the hazelnut meal for the remaining 1/2 cup of the flour.

In addition, if you are calorie conscious as I have recently become then you should know that a  single 'Kellogg's Honey Raisin Bran Muffin' has 190 calories per  serving. However with my added hazelnut meal and extra raisins the calories are about  248.30 per serving.

Wow! What a wonderful tasting and nutritional addition to my morning breakfast of cottage cheese, grapefruit and Bavarian chocolate tea. This latter can also be found at  My Spice Sage.

I know that you will enjoy these muffins as much as I am now.
